Supporting Nick Deane’s MND Fundraiser
May 21, 2025
Living and working in a small town has it challenges at times, but one thing is for sure: it’s a community. And when a friend and colleague is in need, we all rally round and do what we can. That’s why we’re proud to support Nick Deane, a long-time friend of Reech, who is currently facing a devastating battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
About Nick
Having worked closely with Nick from 2015 – 2018 with web builds and retained projects, while he was Sales & Marketing Director at Rockford IT, we built a strong professional relationship. Since then, we’ve regularly bumped into each other at local networking events, eager to catch each other up with what we’ve been up to, and each a huge advocate for the other. Nick’s enthusiasm, professionalism, and passion for marketing made him a standout figure in the industry.
Then, in November 2023, at the age of 56, Nick was diagnosed with MND. The first signs were subtle – slurred speech and weakness in his left hand – unsettling for someone who had just completed the London Marathon for Severn Hospice five months earlier. It wasn’t until a consultation with his doctor that he received the heartbreaking news: ‘It’s MND, you probably have between 3-4 years.’
Taking Action
Nick, known for his unwavering drive and determination, didn’t let this diagnosis define him. Throughout his career, Nick had always chased ambitious goals, from running a local oil group to bringing ultrafast broadband to his community and even completed three marathons. His instinct when faced with a challenge has always been to take action.
Determined to make a difference while he still could, Nick started by participating in the MND 26-mile run in December 2023, raising £11,500.
But this was just the beginning.
Inspired by this success, Nick sought out an even bigger challenge: completing the Three Peaks. Gathering 38 peers to climb with him, Nick raised a life-changing £54,000 for Motor Neurone Disease Association - with some participants even using the challenge to mark personal milestones, including one friend who swapped wedding gifts for donations.
Nick's latest goal is to raise over £100k through a Gala Dinner at Shrewsbury Town Football Club and further fundraising activities, all in support of MND research. His message is clear: to push for a cure for MND, while inspiring others to take action and raise awareness.
Bespoke Website
In absolute awe of Nick, and eager to support his efforts in any way we could, Reech was honoured to design and develop a bespoke website for Nick’s fundraising campaign – completely free of charge, of course.
Acting as a dedicated platform, the website will help him achieve his goal by bringing his mission to a wider audience. Designed to be easy to navigate and update, it will act as the one-stop-shop for all his future fundraising events, information, and donation details.
